News :: Telecoms Consortium has won pitch for SkyVenture

Telecoms Consortium has won the bid to provide the communications infrastructure for voice and data for US firm SkyVenture Wind Tunnel.

Imagine a wind tunnel that could be used for testing the aerodynamics of an F1 racing car, turn it upright, jump onto the airflow and you are skydiving. It's a proven concept operating in several countries to the benefit of the skydiving community and anyone else who wishes to taste the thrill of freefall in a completely safe environment.

As featured on the BBC, the Orlando based SkyVenture Wind Tunnel has been flying thousands of happy flyers in complete safety for over five years.

SkyVenture are planning to operate their first tunnel at Xscape in Milton Keynes due to open in 2005.

The tunnel will have a 12ft diameter chamber with wind speeds of up to 150mph. It will allow teams or groups of four to work comfortably and accommodate flyers of sizes, ages and skill levels.

The air recirculates keeping it at a constant comfortable condition whatever the outside weather, will feature state of the art video and digital photography systems and it will include the finest instructors and coaches to make flying a pleasure.

A new 8MB ADSL service will be installed to link the IP Office platform and will also include a gateway to SKYPE. Incoming traffic will be carried via our Virtual Office platform ensuring a booking is never missed. Remote access will also be provided via VPN for dial-up users. A hi-tech solution has been employed for this hi-tech company.
